With three disciplines to train and then race back to back to back, choosing the right clothing for training and racing can take some serious mental energy. Good news, though - as the official bike shop of Ironman and being a coaching company of over 20 years, Playtri has a long history of helping athletes make informed decisions about the best clothing to meet their training and racing needs.
Below are lists for racing and training to help get you started.
Race Day:
Three pair of goggles with different tints for various weather conditions.
Triathlon wetsuit for when water temp is below 76.1 degrees.
Swim skin for when water temp is above 76.1 degrees.
Tri suit that you wear for the entire race day.
Lightweight, wicking socks if you are concerned about blisters.
A hat/visor for the run.
Run shoes with quick laces for the run.
A race belt to hold your race number on the run.
Sunglasses for the bike and run.
Training:
FORM goggles and a swim cap for training swims
A swimsuit or two for pool workouts.
An assortment of run shorts and shirts for various weather conditions.
A few bike shorts or tri shorts and jerseys for your bike rides and brick workouts.
Lightweight, wicking socks
Sunglasses with photochromic lenses or replaceable lenses for various light conditions.
Bike shoes and a helmet for the bike.
